Rendezvous With The Blues
Jimmy Hall
Born in Mobile, AL. He's a singer/songwriter, plays a mean harmonica and can even throw in some saxophone when called upon to do so. As you might expect, Hall is a student of the blues and R&B and his music is a gumbo of many worthwhile influences.

This is Johnny Hammond at his supreme solo best. If it is possible for an artist to outdo HIMSELF, then this is it! If you listen to no other Hammond album, make sure you hear this one. Even the guitar is perfect-- clean. tense and hypnotic. Wow!~Michael Mcguire

Steel On Steel Dave Hole
The title refers to Hole's trump card, his fast, flashy, steel-cylinder-on-steel-strings slide work. From blues to rock, and Steel on Steel clearly stresses the instrumental pyrotechnics of such guitar heroes as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Healy.

Alone (Tomato) John Lee Hooker
This brooding lesson in the "Three D's" of the blues--despair, death, and desire--is a window into the melancholy soul of Hooker's art.

There are some real gems on this one- and not a bad cut on the whole disc. But I will make a statement here that there isn't a font on the planet that will print big enough for- "SHAKE the GROUND" is likely the finest rock track ever recorded. It's one of those that offers a peek into a whole new style of rock- funky, soulful, and groove oriented. Did I exaggerate? OK- "One of the finest!!" ~Mark
